With the development of 3D printing current supply chains will be disrupted; goods will no longer be shipped as physical objects anymore but will more and more be exchanged as digital files until being produced locally by subsidiaries, partners or customers equipped with a 3D printer. This transformation creates new opportunities regarding production and supply chain organization as well as intellectual property protection.
