ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING OR LASER FUSION
It is a process that can be compared to 3D printing, direct additive manufacturing of metal is done by adding successive layers of metal powder, fused by a laser beam from a CAD model. The part is then built layer by layer, a technique different from material removal through conventional machining.
The manufacturing time, and therefore the cost of a complex part, is considerably reduced. It is the ideal technology for rapid prototyping and small series.
