"The Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI) was set up in 2001 to support the needs of creative businesses in the Western Cape, and to grow the region’s craft and design sector. A not-for-profit company, the CCDI is a joint initiative of Western Cape Government and the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT). Over the years, the CCDI has developed a range of activities to help improve creative businesses. We work with craft producers, designers and other creative entrepreneurs. Whether you need a short course on how to cost your product or service, time in our Product Support space developing your latest idea, or support to access markets, we have the services to help you grow. Our core programmes are: Product Support, Business Support, Market Support and Design Support. In 2012, the Western Cape Government’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT) collaborated with the CCDI and other key role-players to develop a Design Strategy to unlock innovation in the province. The CCDI has been tasked with driving the implementation of the strategy with a wide range of stakeholders and is building a design ecosystem to support innovation in the province."
