The National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC) is a national programme initiative led by NTUitive, the Innovation and Enterprise Company of Nanyang Technological University, to translate upstream 3D printing research in universities and Institute of Higher Learnings (IHLs) into downstream commercial applications, as well as lower barriers for companies to incorporate additive manufacturing technologies into their core businesses. It is supported by the National Research Foundation, Prime Minister’s office, in partnership with SPRING Singapore and the Singapore Economic Development Board. Since its formation on 1 October 2015, we have reached out to over several hundred local and global private and public enterprises to enable additive manufacturing technology adoption as part of their business.
NAMIC’s vision and thrust are to Engage, Scale and Impact. We engage with local and global companies and institutions to develop a collaborative and innovative ecosystem for additive manufacturing in Singapore. Through our industry capability development hubs at NUS, NTU and SUTD, as well as technology partners – A*STAR SIMTECH, Nanyang Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic among others, NAMIC helps Singapore companies address barriers to AM adoption, providing access to AM technologies, knowledge, infrastructure and developmental funding. NAMIC actively supports start-ups and companies that focus on harnessing AM technologies to develop new applications, products and business lines across all major industry verticals in Singapore. Through this multi-pronged approach, NAMIC aims to create a social and economic impact in Singapore, seeding capabilities and positioning Singapore for the future in anticipation of Industry 4.0 and the era of digital manufacturing.
