Profile Description

In the late 1980s Anders Brask and Evald Ottosson met at Karlebo, the Nordic region’s largest trading house for machinery and supplies for the engineering industry. It was Evald’s first working day and when he opened the door to Karlebo, he met Anders who had worked his last day. The gentlemen greeted each other and this is where Protech’s story began. After a few years of discussions between Anders and Evald, the seed was sown to do something together. In 1993, Protech was founded with a business idea to sell CAD / CAM solutions to manufacturing engineering companies.

CAD / CAM then and now .When Protech was founded, companies were built in 2D-CAD / CAM. 3D-CAD / CAM was something new and unique that only a few companies needed. In the main, it was the automotive industry that drove the development of 3D-CAD / CAM forward. Protech’s first supplier of 3D systems was an American supplier called CAMAX. After a few years, CAMAX disappeared from the market and Protech continued its search until it found the English 3D CAD / CAM supplier Delcam. In 1997, Protech was the reseller for Delcam’s unique 3D CAD / CAM solution for model carpentry and tool manufacturers. In the late 1990s, many of Protech’s Delcam customers searched for a CAD system for tool design. By chance, Protech found a French software developer named Missler. Missler had the unique CAD system TopSolid that Protech introduced in the Nordic countries in 1998. TopSolid quickly became one of the most common CAD systems for tool design. TopSolid has always had a wide range of special solutions for different industries.

In 2006, a CAD / CAM solution for furniture and specialty carpentry was introduced. Over the past 12 years, Protech has established itself as a leading supplier of CAD / CAM systems for specialized carpentry with around 80 Nordic carpentry companies as customers. In 2015, Delcam was acquired by the American CAD / CAM company Autodesk. Therefore, Protech is today the reseller of CAD / CAM systems from Autodesk. Protech continues to look for new CAD / CAM solutions for the Nordic industry. The latest addition is Autodesk Netfabb, which Protech became a reseller of in 2017
