Valimet

valimet
Valimet is a leading manufacturer of spherical atomized metal powders in the United States. We pride ourselves on service to all our customers, whether large or small.

Profile Description

Valimet began producing spherical aluminum powders (aluminum, aluminum silicon, aluminum alloys and special alloy powders) in Stockton, California, in the 1960s. Originally designed for use in solid propellants, thermal spray and other coating applications, these powders are now also used in additive manufacturing, cold spray, HVOF, brazing, decoy flares, electronic and thermal management materials.

Through the infusion of technology, Valimet constantly reinvents itself to supply powders for new applications as they are developed. All of Valimet’s spherical powders are produced by inert gas atomization, lending excellent flow properties. Our products are certified to meet hundreds of military, commercial and custom specifications. We pride ourselves in maintaining excellent quality control standards, and Valimet is renowned for lot-to-lot consistency in all of its metal powder products. Valimet’s Quality Management System is ISO 9001:2015 certified and we are a Pratt and Whitney LCS approved source.

We operate three atomizers (including seven atomizing units) to produce millions of pounds of spherical metal powders each year. These production systems are strategically separated for maximum safety and redundancy. Valimet uses the highest quality raw material to achieve optimum atomizing performance and maximize the purity of products offered to our customers. Valimet incorporates multiple powder sizing methods for flexibility to screen, classify and blend to meet the most stringent particle size specifications.

As a small company, we are quick to respond to new opportunities. We offer personalized customer service and support throughout your entire experience, from initial inquiry through delivery and follow-up.

VALIMET’s AM line of Aluminum Alloy powders is specifically designed for Additive Manufacturing and Cold Spray

After atomization via inert gas for spherical morphology, the Aluminum powders are sized to enhance flowability. The particle size distributions are tailored to maximize density and optimize printing performance while meeting stringent OEM specifications.

Our standard grade of AM powders has a particle size distribution in the range of -53/+15µm. This finer particle size is great for higher resolution without sacrificing properties. VALIMET’s “C” grade aluminum alloy powders have a slightly coarser distribution, with better and specified flow characteristics, sized in the range of -63/+20µm. Please see the AM Series Data Sheet below for details.

Today VALIMET’s portfolio of AM powder grades includes:

  • AlSi10Mg, F357
  • 2000 Series: 2024, 2139, 2219
  • 3000 Series: 3003
  • 4000 Series: 4047, 4471
  • 5000 Series: 5056, 5083
  • 6000 Series: 6061
  • 7000 Series: 7050, 7075
  • 8000 Series: 8009, 8019

VALIMET toll-produces A20x (A205) powder which is sold and distributed by its patent holder.

In addition to standard grades, VALIMET offers Atomization as a service, to toll-manufacture proprietary alloys. We look forward to working with you.
