Formlabs, a developer and manufacturer of laser photopolymer and powder additive equipment, announced a partnership with Autodesk to integrate Autodesk Fusion 360 software with its proprietary SLA 3D printers.
The partnership enables users to optimize their workflows with new tools that combine the best features of Autodesk’s comprehensive CAD suite with Formlabs’ professional 3D printing technologies. Form 3 and Form 3L 3D printers will be the first in the Formlabs lineup to support the new tool set.
The software integration includes a brand new graphical interface that will allow users to visualize how details will fit into the Form 3 and Form 3L work volumes. Designers will be able to customize the design panel to match the most commonly used workflows. In addition, design teams will be able to simplify file management by directly exporting .form files from Fusion 360. This eliminates the need to download individual STL files, providing more robust version control.
“Integrating Formlabs printers with Autodesk Fusion 360 is a big step toward streamlining additive manufacturing processes. The partnership reflects the intent of designing and manufacturing new products in a single unified platform. It will save money and deliver better, more consistent and professional results in a timely manner,” commented Sualp Ozel, senior product manager at Autodesk.
