The BiogelxTM Inks are composed of synthetic peptide hydrogels which form a nanofibrous network, mimicking the extracellular-matrix which supports cell growth, signaling, and proliferation. Our new generation bio-inks have applications in fundamental cell research, toxicology, and drug screening, and may ultimately be translated to cell therapy or regenerative medicine

Profile Description

The advantage of using synthetic hydrogels for bioprinting is that they can be tailored to specific applications. Biogelx’s simple peptide-based hydrogels provide a biocompatible environment with tunable mechanical properties, offering the ability to balance printability with cell viability. Biogelx Bioinks can be printed into air with good 3D fidelity and do not require the use of support, sacrificial or curing inks.

Printability– Biogelx Bioinks have been developed for use in extrusion-based printing techniques. However, thanks to the tunable mechanical properties of the base material, these can also be optimized for use in other printing technologies.
Biocompatibility – Our products are composed of bio-relevant amino-acids, are >95% water and produce a nanoscale matrix structure which mimics the natural extracellular matrix (ECM).
Material Biomimicry – The Biogelx Bioink range includes formulations which incorporate a range of biomimetic peptide sequences, enhancing the biocompatibility of the materials with various cell types.
Gelation time – Our product has been formulated to allow printing of a stable 3D structure into air. The printed structure maintains good 3D fidelity, and can be further cross-linked after printing by addition of cell culture media.
