Lohia Aerospace has signed a Joint Manufacturing Alliance with Massivit 3D Printing Technologies to install India's first commercial large format additive manufacturing platform for composite tooling at its Kanpur facility.

Profile Description

Lohia Aerospace Systems, an aerospace and defense composites manufacturer based in Kanpur, is bringing large format 3D printing into its production line through a Joint Manufacturing Alliance with Massivit 3D Printing Technologies. The partnership installs Massivit’s RapidWings platform, built on Cast-In-Motion technology, to 3D print molds and manufacturing tools for aerospace and other composite industries, cutting tooling lead times by up to 90% and compressing the traditional composite mold-making workflow from around nineteen steps to four. Lohia plans to bring 8 to 10 of the large format printers online, each capable of producing one to two complete tool sets a day, backed by an investment of USD 8 million to 10 million over the next one to two years to scale the additive tooling operation and expand its Kanpur facility by 250,000 square feet. The alliance marks the first commercial large format additive manufacturing installation for composite tooling in India, aimed at substituting currently-imported tooling with domestic production.
